Today, he is a nurseryman, working for the forest.
Trained by our local partner @ecodecbenin , he has changed his path - and his outlook.
He now earns a better living and actively promotes forest protection.
In the past, his business did not allow him to build his own house.
Now, thanks to this new profession, he can finally do it.

- A minimum of 20,000 trees produced and planted in years 1 and 2
- 40 small coffee producers benefit from these trees
- 40 plots restored and/or converted to agroforestry
- 26 beehives installed, including 10 for Meliponiculture, the breeding of Melipona bees - small stingless bees.
- 150 educational workshops as part of the «Mon amie la Nature» programme»

A look back at a project carried out in Cambodia's Phnom Kulen National Park.
For 3 years, we have been proud to have set up this project with the help of ADF, our local partner.

24 January was International Education Day!
👩🏫 In Fohisokina, in the south of the Hauts Plateaux region of Madagascar, HUMY has financed the refurbishment of the school and provided financial assistance to the teachers for many years. In Madagascar, it is common for teachers to be paid little or nothing and for school buildings not to be taken care of by the state, so it is often NGOs that take over and help the education system. 👨🏫

The Fohisokina site is a small nature reserve that is home to one of the rarest and most endangered frogs in the world.

Geoffroy's Colobus is a primate that lives in Benin, Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana.
It is one of the primate species most threatened with extinction.

🌍 The Malagasy Ibis, as its name suggests, is endemic to Madagascar, the west coast to be precise, but is also found on the island of Aldabra (located in the north-west of Madagascar). 🏝️
🏖️ This bird frequents coastal areas and is particularly fond of mangrove areas, where it finds its food on the mudflats at low tide.
✊ Rather gregarious, the individuals come together in the evening to sleep together in dormitories. Unity is strength!
🆘 This is a rare and highly threatened species, assessed as globally «Endangered» by the IUCN.

✨ Multicolored Tanager - Chlorochrysa nitidissima ✨
A small tanager with rainbow colours, a real grail for birdwatchers! ⭐️
This species is strictly endemic to part of the Cordillera Occidental and the northern Cordillera Central in Colombia. It has a very restricted range and is considered infrequent to rare. 🔬
The Multicoloured Tanager is generally seen at altitudes of between 1,200 and 2,500 m, where it mainly frequents primary rainforests and secondary forests (in good condition), cloud forests and the forest edges of these ecosystems. 🌱🌳🌿
The species can be considered omnivorous, as it feeds on insects, fruit and seeds. It can be found in the Farallones National Park in Cali, where HUMY is working with @fundacionimpulsoverde . 🤝
Due to its very restricted distribution and low population densities, the species is assessed as «Near Threatened» at global level by the IUCN. ⚠️

🐢 Hawksbill sea turtle - Eretmochelys imbricata 🐢
⚠️ The hawksbill turtle is the only representative of the genus Eretmochelys.
It is a «keystone» species, meaning that it plays a vital role in the ecosystem. This turtle feeds mainly by cleaning the coral reefs of sponges and anemones (but also jellyfish), thus enabling the reefs to thrive and facilitating access to reef resources for fish and other species. 🪼
💪 It acts as a «gardener» for coral reefs and seagrass beds, which are among the most important marine ecosystems on the planet.
🐠 This is a species found in coral reefs in tropical areas, with a fairly wide distribution but numbers are often low and constantly decreasing. It is still well represented in the Coral Triangle, particularly in Indonesia.
🆘 The hawksbill turtle is classified as Critically Endangered by the IUCN. Long caught and killed for its magnificent scales, it is now mainly a victim of «by-catch» in nets or longlines.
☠️ The nickel industry in Indonesia (and the Philippines), which we talk about regularly, is a very serious threat to the people of the Coral Triangle...

🐓 Prelate's pheasant - Lophura diardi - Siamese Fireback 🐓
A pretty pheasant endemic to the Indochinese Peninsula (Laos, Vitenam, Cambodia, Thailand and the far south-east of Myanmar), it frequents lowland forests up to 800 m in altitude. 🌏
Its preferred habitat is dense rainforest, but it can also be found in a wide range of forest ecosystems in a good state of conservation: from tropical dry forest to semi-caducifolia forest. 🌱🌳🌿
There is significant sexual dimorphism, in the photo it is an adult male, the female has ochre and grey tones, which makes it much more discreet among the dead leaves in the undergrowth... 🪶🍂 This is quite a spectacular species and quite attractive for birdwatchers.
Lophura diardi can be found in the forests of Phnom Kulen National Park, where we work alongside our partner ADF Kulen. 🤝
Despite widespread population declines, the species is not assessed as threatened by the IUCN. 🧐

The aptly named! This Tangara is a real feathered gem! 🤩✨
Endemic to the Andes mountain range, this species can be found from Venezuela to northern Bolivia, where it can be observed at altitudes of between 1,200 m and 2,700 m. 🌎
It is a tanager that mainly frequents forests in good condition and more particularly edge zones. It can also live in disturbed ecosystems such as degraded secondary forests, parks and gardens. 🐦
Fairly widely distributed and relatively common throughout its range, the species is not considered threatened by the IUCN. 🧐
