The local context
Hlanzoun is a rare and remarkable swamp forest in West Africa. It covers an area of 2,945 hectares, including a central core of almost 900 hectares. This flooded forest is permanently fed by the river Hlan. Once sacred, Hlanzoun has been heavily fragmented since the early 2000s, and alternative activities to logging the forest are now needed to save it.
The holistic approach of’HUMY enables us to offer Income-generating activities as an alternative to environmental destruction. For example, one of the women's traditional activities is to cut down young trees to make wood. charcoal. Thanks to microcredit, HUMY is able to offer alternative women who have this activity.
Project objectives
Loans are generally between 25 and €75 and can be repaid between 1 and 12 months depending on the activity. These loan amounts may seem derisory, but in reality they are already significant. In areas where’extreme poverty The corollary of this is a total lack of cash, particularly for women. micro-credit enables women to improve their living conditions in a tangible way.




Already completed
More than 125 women have benefited from a loan since the creation of the microcredit fund. To date, 100% of the loans have been repaid. The reimbursement rate is 2% to be compared with the reimbursement rate of 20% offered by traditional institutions.
The ambition
